W Trail Day 1: Las Torres: Breathtaking Views and a Dramatic Knee (Spoiler Alert: It Lost).
How did I feel on the way down from the Las Torres Mirador? It was bittersweet. Nothing lasts forever, though, so I had to force myself to get up and start hiking back. As this is an out-and-back trail, I had to follow the same way back to Refugio Central. My right knee became a total drama queen on this trip. Every descent was a full-blown tantrum. Looks like I need to find a new hiking buddy! By the way, the Las Torres Ranger Station is a breeze to get to from the viewpoint - only 1.4 km (0.86 miles) and a nice 650 meters (2,133 feet) downhill (which might not be my knee's favorite activity anymore).
